On Friday June 16th, at around 6:40 pm officer Paul Reynolds observed the driver of a silver Chevrolet passenger car traveling on Broadway Street without wearing a seat belt. Officer Reynolds stopped the vehicle in Minit Mart parking lot and made contact with the driver, Charles Sims. While Reynolds was attempting to conduct the investigation Sims refused to obey verbal commands and became belligerent and began to physically resist. Sims was placed under arrest and charged with Failure to wear seat belts, Possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia buy/possess, disorderly conduct 1st degree, assault 3rd degree- police officer, endangering the welfare of a minor, and operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, and resisting arrest. Sims was also served with a Bench warrant for violation of EPO/DVO, Assault 4th, and resisting arrest. Officer Reynolds was assisted on scene by Sergeant James Roberts and Officer Tim Highbaugh.
