BCHS Battle of the Bats Hosted by the BCHS Cheerleaders will be today, Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18 at Jackie Browning Park Complex for 8U, 10U,12U, 14U AND 16U Softball. Babe Ruth Rules will apply with no pitching limit and a four game guarantee. The Entry Fee is $125, gate Fee $5 with 8 and under getting in free. Barren County Foster Adoptive Parent Association will host “Revin’ Up for Kids Car, Truck and Bike Show, Saturday, June 17 from 9AM to 1PM with trophies at 1:30PM at the Cave City Convention Center. Donations will be accepted. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a total of 60 trophies to give away. Proceeds benefit foster kids in Barren County, for fun outings and Christmas presents and more. Impossible Magic Live will be at the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library, Saturday, June 17 at 6:30PM. Up to 4 free tickets are available at the library so pick yours up early.
Book Sprouts Story Time will be held at the Mary Wood Weldon Library Tuesday, June 20 at 10am. Preschoolers will learn a new Alpha-buddy each week.

Glasgow Community Band presents, A Night at the Movies, Thursday, June 22 at 7PM on the Glasgow Square. In case of inclement weather or extreme heat, concert will be at the Plaza Theatre.
The June meeting of the Barren County Historical Society will be Thursday, June 22 at 6PM at the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library. Frenchie Belcher will present the program on Genealogy research “Finding Your Roots Thru D.A.R.” Frenchie has served as Registrar for Edmund Rogers Chapter of the D.A.R. and has been doing research since 2001. She has taken online courses on Genealogy and attends available workshops and says that Genealogy research is her passion. The public is invited and there is no charge for attendance.
BRAWA would like to thank everyone that has continued to volunteer and support them with donations and monetary sponsorships. SNAP Vouchers are also offered for Barren County residence and have a Trap and Release Program as well. The 1st Annual Kiwanis Club of Glasgow Volleyball Tournament will be June 24 at 9AM at Glasgow High School. There will be a $150 entry fee and $5 gate fee. Registration the day of will begin at 8:30AM. Prizes will be awarded for 1st-3rd place. Proceeds will go to Glasgow and Barren County Volleyball programs and helping other children in our community.
Acrylic Painting Classes will begin on Monday June 26 through Monday, August 7 from 5:30 to7:30 pm at First Presbyterian Church. Another class will begin on Tuesday, June 27 and run through Tuesday, August 8. There will not be classes on July 3 and July 4. Expand your world of acrylic painting. Venture outside your “box” and experience new excitement through your own paintbrush. Or start from the beginning and broaden your range of color and beauty. Class is for ages 13 and above. Glasgow City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. Tuesday’s garbage and recycling will be picked up on Wednesday, July 5. Please have at curbside by 7am on Wednesday. Glasgow Landfill we be closed all day, Tuesday, July 5 and there will be no transit bus service.
The Arc of Barren County is sponsoring a First Responder Training and Community Open House on July 20 at the Barren County High School Auditorium. Training Focused on Promoting Positive Interactions between First Responders and Individuals with Autism & Other Special Needs. Training for First Responders will be held from 10am to 1pm and the open house from 1 to 2pm. There is no charge and nothing will be for sell. Free resources will be available. Mystery Art Camp will be held on Monday and Tuesday, July 10 & 11 from 9:00AM to 12:30PM at Highland Elementary for 8 to 12 year olds. The cost is $50 which includes supplies Help us explore the world of art by using imagination and creativity. We will recycle, reuse, and recreate. PLUS we will mold and enjoy using clay. Lunch will be provided free by School Summer Feeding Program. Camp is for ages 8 to 12 years old. Another class will be held on Thursday, July 13 for ages 6 and 7 year olds and the cost is $25 which includes supplies. Patty Hughes and Makayla Cleary are the instructors. The Cultural Center is hosting a KY Pants Factory reunion, Saturday July 15 at 1PM. Cookies and punch will be served, and door prizes will be available to the former employees. There will be photos and an opportunity to share oral history about the Pants Factory. Please share any photos and Pants Factory memorabilia you have. The Cultural cent can scan them and return the originals.
