The Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to an injury accident on North Jackson Highway just before noon on Tuesday, February 14. . James R. Lockett 85 of Hardyville was traveling south in his 2008 Chevrolet Impala when he crossed into the northbound lane of traffic and struck a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander driven by Bobby Pennington 56 of Horse Cave head on. Both Pennington and Lockett were transported to T J Samson Community Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.
A passenger in Pennington’s van, Florence Mynes 83 of Hardyville was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. Mrs. Mynes was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Deputy Mike Houchens is investigating the accident and was assisted on scene by Deputy Adam Bow, Sheriff Kent Keen, the Hiseville Fire Department, the Glasgow Fire Department, Barren Metcalfe EMS and Barren County Emergency Management.
