James William Gaston, 86, of Glasgow, died Sunday at TJ Samson Community Hospital. The Earlington, KY native was a retired dairy farmer, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Glasgow DAV Chapter 20 and Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a son of the late Johnny Gaston and Betty Mae Raines Gaston and husband of the late Novice Udean Witcher Gaston. He is survived by one son: Robert William “Bobby” Gaston and wife Loretta of Scottsville. Two daughters: Carol Kirtley and husband Robert of Campbellsville, and Brenda Ann Ford of Scottsville. Two sisters: Barbara Twigg and husband Ron of Portland, Indiana and Joyce Miller of Richmond, Indiana. Six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Austin Earl Gaston and Edward Lee Gaston. Funeral services for James William Gaston will be held Thursday at 12 noon at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Neil Jeffries and Bro. Doug Carter, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Allen County Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Glasgow DAV Chapter 20. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday at Goad Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Glasgow DAV Chapter 20. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
