The Glasgow Barren County Chamber of Commerce wrapped up another successful year with their annual banquet last night at the Cave City Convention Center.  Retiring President Bob Cary summed up the year this way

Incoming President Jim Lee, of Citizens First Bank challenged the membership to find the added value in becoming involved in the chamber this year

Of course it was a night of awards, and some tremendous honors were handed out:

The Administrative Professional of the Year was Sheryl Edmunds England, from Judge Phil Patton’s office;  the Ambassador of the Year, Jennie Wilson; Farmers of the year, John Terry and Sharon Smith; Small Business of the Year, Lakeside Recycling; Sybil Leamon Volunteer of the Year went to Christian Kaumans of SCRTC, and the Protogenia Woman of Achievement, sponsored by Goodman Chevrolet, Cadillac, Nissan went to Sheila Hogue of the Glasgow EPB.

5 Ernie’s were handed out to those who had achieved state and national recognition in their respective fields..

Those were Steve Newberry, Commonwealth Broadcasting, Myria Taylor of Glenview Healthcare, Laura Belcher, T.J. Samson Hospital, Circuit Court Clerk Krissie Coe Fields and Henry Royse, WCLU

8 new directors will join the join the current board, including Christian Kaumans SCRTC, Eddie Bruner, Glasgow Coin and Jewelry; Mike Johnson, Glasgow Golf and Country Club, Larry Hammer, Monticello Banking Company, Ron Baldwin, Bowling Green Technical College-Glasgow, Scott Kerley, Kerley Construction, and Tim Riddle, Cave City Convention Center.

The night was accented with the music of the Barrens Big Band, as well as solemnized with the reading of the names of those members who have died this past year, B.R. Carver, Cecil Goode, Jack Goodman, Bobby Guilfoil, C.B. Lowe, Albert Redford, Martha and Donald Rutledge, Garnett Vance, Jr. Roy Withrow and Warren Willoughby.
