Tuesday morning the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland  Parkway was shut down for several  hours after a tractor trailer wreck at the 18 mile marker.  And now, the person driving the truck has been charged with operating the commercial vehicle under the influence.

It appears the accident occurred when 48-year-old Jeffrey G. Norris, of Burkesville, was operating a 1999 Peterbuilt semi eastbound on the Louie B. Nunn parkway, went out of control and traveled into the median, causing the semi to turn up on its side and a large amount of feed to spill onto the roadway.

Norris was transported by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Services to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where he was treated and upon release arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs first offense (aggravated).

Deputy Mike Houchens investigated the accident and was assisted by Deputies Greg Kinslow and Kevin Wilson. Members of the East Barren Volunteer Fire Department and Barren County Emergency Management also responded to the scene.
