CITY COUNCIL HEARS REPORT FROM HOUSING AUTHORITY, DECLARES SURPLUS PROPERTY AND HANDS OUT SOME HONORS PDF Print

Meeting in regular session last night the Glasgow City Council passed 3 resolutions that declared certain city property as surplus.. Specifically some lots on Lee Street,
the city building inspector’s vehicle and some office equipment.  This resolution is required so that the city can dispose of the property.  Last night’s meeting featured a report from Sheri Lee, director of the Glasgow Housing Authority. She talked about the quality neighborhoods, the assistance programs and the history of the program since its beginning 55 years ago. She summarized the economic impact the housing authority has on our community.

The council reappointed Sara Smila and Betty Herbert to 3 year terms on the Historical Preservation Committee.

In the way of recognitions, the council adopted a resolution in honor and memory of Joe Leech, 30 year member of the Glasgow Water Commission and involved local citizen on many fronts.  Leech died March 12th

And a group of State Champions were in attendance last night. The Barren County Flames Special Olympics State Basketball Champions were recognized for their statewide honor..  As city attorney Ben Rogers read the final part of the resolution,

the crowd present gave a standing ovation to Justin Roberts, Jonathan Corbitt, Noah Devasher, Chris Pedigo, Dustin Emerson, Jennifer Pedigo, Kristine Montgomery, Chris Peay, Bridgett Paul, Daniel Williams, Bryan Cheely, Kevin Farley, Hunter Lambirth, Amber Shipley, Chad Pedigo, Teyshawn Martin and Steven Curasi, as well as coaches Kelly Jackson and James Cheely.
