Betty Irene Russell, 73, of Scottsville, Ky died at 7:56 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green.  The Madison County, In native was a former employee of Guardsmark and attended Calvary Mission Church. She was a daughter of the late John Henry Alford Walter Howe and Lucy Victoria Synder Howe and wife of the late James Franklin "Buck" Russell.

She is survived by 1 son: Robert Clay Calvert, Scottsville, Ky;

A special friend: Glyn Cooper, Scottsville, Ky;

1 brother: Richard Victor Howe, Alexandria, In;

4 sisters: Carmen Frances Gilliam, Elwood, In; Barbara Elene Thurber and Peggy Joann Hampton, both of Alexandria, In and Charlotte Elaine Mercer, Anderson, In;

1 grandson: Tony Allen Calvert

1 nephew, whom she raised: Robert Wayne Mandrell, Glasgow, Ky and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 1 grandson: Jessie Clay Calvert; 1 brother: John David Howe and 1 sister: Sheila Diane Howe.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Smalling and Bro. Randy Sloan officiating and burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Goad Funeral Home.
