David Summers, 67, of Summers Road in Tompkinsville passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at Monroe County Medical Center.

David was born August 22, 1944 in Monroe County. He was a son of Oral and Flossie Bell (Adams) Summers, who precedes him in death.

On September 18, 1965, David married Brenda (Bledsoe) Summers, who survives. David is also survived by their 2 children; Neal Summers, of Tompkinsville, KY and Kami (Willie) Cherry of Hermitage Springs, TN. and by two grandchildren; William and Kylie Cherry.

David is also survived by five brothers; Oral Lanes Summers, Denver Summers, Dennis Summers, Larry Summers, all of Tompkinsville and Dewayne Summers of Noblesville, Indiana. Also surviving is one sister; Naomi Proffitt, of Tompkinsville, KY.

David is preceded in death by two sisters; Ila Maurice Summers and Mildred Summers Strode.

David worked as a carpenter and as a minister. He was a member of Athens Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 7, 2012 at 2 P.M. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. Visitation begins Sunday, May 6, 2012 after 6 p.m. Officiating the service will be Doug Copass and Terry Jackson. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
