Virginia Scott Jenkins, 95 of Waukegan, IL passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Vista East Hospital, Waukegan, IL. The LaPlace, IL native was the daughter of the late John J. Scott and Bessie Doyle Scott and loving wife of 66 years to the late John O. Jenkins. She was preceded in death by two sons, David B. Jenkins and James L. Jenkins and three brothers, Jim, John and Bob and three sisters, Lolita, Loretta, and Jan. Virginia was a trained musician: organist, pianist, and vocalist. For many years, she contributed musically in the Springfield, IL Youth for Christ rallies, in local churches and in innumerable other Christian circles and events. She trained her three sons as vocalists and the trio traveled extensively as "The Youthfulaires: for many years. For nearly 55 years, she served as business associate to her beloved husband, John O. Jenkins, sole proprietor of The County Farm Directory Service. She attended and called as her home church the Cornerstone Community Church (Wadsworth, IL), founded by her son, the Rev. John C. Jenkins, Pastor Emeritus. Survivors include one son: Rev. John C. Jenkins (Ruth) of Beach Park, IL. and two daughters, Rebecca J. Gray of Waukegan, IL and Sarah L. Johnson (Dr. Ray) of Bowling Green; eleven grand children, Jim Jenkins, Rachael Jenkins Kerrigan, Larry Jenkins, Joy Ruth Jenkins, Jeffrey John Jenkins, Greg Grant, Ricky Grant, Johnny Grant, Michael Grant, Mark Triplett, Jennifer Triplett and was a great grandmother to many others and her sister, Florence Heintzman of Oceanside, CA Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.There will be a memorial service held at Cornerstone Community Church at a later date. Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cornerstone Community Church Building Fund.
