Trooper Nick Davis is investigating a fatal

collision that occurred Sunday, September 30th at 8:05 P.M.   The

collision occurred on North US 127 in the limits of Albany.

John Byers, age 80 of Albany, was traveling North on US 127 operating a

1989 Ford pickup.  Byers' pickup struck a Schwinn moped operated by

Bharatkumar Batel, age 48 of Albany.

Batel, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the moped.  Byers,

who was belted, was not injured.  Batel was transported to the Clinton

County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the Clinton County

Coroner's office.

Trooper Davis was assisted by the Albany Police Department, the Clinton

County Sheriff's Office and Clinton County EMS.  The collision remains

under investigation by Trooper Davis.
