This week is being marked as National Mental Illness Awareness Week. Particular attention to the week is being paid by mental health advocates in Kentucky.

The state ranks in the bottom ten for per capita spending on mental health services, according to the Lexington Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The state’s advocates say more mentally ill Kentuckians are in jails and prisons than in Hospitals.
