District 3 Traffic Impact Report

KYTC District 3:  Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd and Warren Counties


Interstate / Parkway Systems

I-65 - Reconstruction from four to six lanes for north and southbound lanes in Barren - Park City to Cave City (MP 48-53)

Widening to six lanes continues for this section of I-65 with two lanes of traffic open for each direction. The northbound traffic is split between the center median.  The outside (right) lane is the only lane that will allow you to exit at Cave City. This traffic pattern will be in place until spring 2013. Completion is expected in the fall of 2013.

Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway – Lane closure between mile markers 27 and 29

Crews will be doing concrete overlay work on two bridge structures in Metcalfe County. Both directions of the parkway will be pushed down to one lane 24/7 between mile markers 27 and 29 while this work is performed. There will also be a 10’ lane width restriction in place for both directions during the duration of this work which is scheduled for completion in mid-late November, weather permitting.


Barren County

Glasgow Outer Loop – New Construction from US 68 to the Louis B. Nunn /Cumberland Parkway

Beginning Monday, Oct. 22, crews will be installing necessary signage as well as setting barrier wall on the parkway in preparation for the pier construction for the interchange. Crews will also begin widening the KY 1297 bridge that overpasses the parkway.

KY 90 – New Construction: Grade & Drain with Surfacing – Flagging one lane from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm

Crews will be flagging traffic on the new Siloam Church Road, Adam McCreary Road, and Green Valley Drive daily from 6:30 am – 5:00 pm for building embankments and constructing the asphalt base portion of the road bed. The new Bridge near Siloam Road is complete. Completion for the entire project is slated for fall of 2013.

Barren River State Park – Asphalt resurfacing/road rehabilitation

Crews will be patching several locations within the internal network of roadwork throughout the park and paving parking areas. Traffic on US 31E will not be impacted by this work.

Edmonson County

KY 70 – Resurfacing work for Brownsville Road – Flagging one lane from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm

Crews will be placing rock on the shoulders from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.  A one lane road will be utilized, which will be controlled by flaggers.


Logan County

KY 178 – Culvert replacement

This project has been completed with the exception of corrective work.

Monroe County

kY 163 – New Construction: Grade & Drain with Surfacing – Flagging one lane from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm

Crews will continue work on building and hauling embankment and will have flaggers at the intersections of the new Cyclone Road approach, Apple Grove intersection, and Humes Road intersections. Humes Road will also have flaggers and crews working to build a new approach and traffic should expect delays. Crews are also doing earth work around the intersection of KY 90 and KY 163. Motorists should use caution while traveling through this area and watch for construction vehicles entering/exiting the construction work zone. Completion is expected for summer of 2013.

Simpson County

KY 383/Springfield Road – Resurfacing – Flagging one lane from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm

Crews will be onsite between KY 591 and KY 816 to replace cross drain culvert pipe to prepare for resurfacing the roadway.  Completion is expected by mid-late October.


Warren County

KY 2158/Cumberland Trace

Crews will continue placing sod and seeding from Scottsville Road to just south of Cemetery Road on both the left and right side.  No major encroachments on traffic are expected.

US 231/Scottsville Road Interchange

Through the week, crews will be placing barrier median on US 231 from the north side of the new bridge to just north of the Three Springs Road intersection.  Traffic will have been moved to the outside lanes of US 231 to allow working room in this area.  No encroachment on traffic is expected.  Motorists should take precaution for construction vehicles entering and exiting

US 31W/Nashville Road – Widening/Reconstruction between the William H. Natcher Parkway and Dillard/McLellan Intersection – Flagging one lane from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm

Crews will be on site to continue placing asphalt base from Elrod Road to the north end of the project.  This activity could lead to one lane traffic from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, which would be controlled by flaggers. The temporary signal at Mitch McConnell Way will be in operation until all work is completed at the Central Avenue intersection. The work for Central Avenue is scheduled for completion by the end of this week, weather permitting.

Motorists should take precaution for construction vehicles entering and exiting the construction zone. Construction activities are creating delays during peak travel times on Nashville Road and Elrod Road. Motorists may wish to take an alternate route or alter their travel times to avoid such delays. Completion is expected in the spring of 2013.

KY 526/Mount Olivet Road – Culvert installation – Flagging one lane from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm

Crews will be on site to continue removing and re-installing culvert pipe.  A one lane road will be utilized from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM which will be controlled by flaggers.


Please note this information contains state maintained routes only.  Work schedules quickly and often do change because of weather and other factors.  Other work (including mowing/utility maintenance) may not be included in this report due to the rapid nature in which these activities take place and move from one location to another.
