Laura Ellen Mitchell 84, of Glasgow, died Monday October 15, 2012, at T.J Sampson Hospital. She was a member of Queens Chapel Baptist Church where she served in the Missionary Society, President of the Choir and The Birthday Club.

She was preceded in death by her father, Otha Turner; mother Mae Smith; stepmother, Frankie Turner; a daughter Sarah Jane Slayton; sister, Zella Jackson.

Survivors include two grandsons, Michaeal D. Slayton(Pam) of Schulenburg,TX, and James Slayton(Tillie) of Glasgow,KY; two brothers, Chester Turner of Smith Grove, KY and David Turner of Smith Grove, KY; five sisters, Ellen (Ralph) Pearson, Betty Turner, Billie (Ted) Olmstead, Brenda Apple, and Joyce (Harry) Hayden. And a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral is 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 20, 2012 at Queens Chapel Baptist Church in Hiseville with the Rev. Ray Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Barlow Cemetery. Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m. Friday October 19, 2012 at Watts & Percell Funeral Home.
