George Arthur Gorby 91 of Glasgow died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Illinois he was a son of the late Orrin and Blanche Jalageas Gorby. George retired after 26 years as an employee of Houchens Markets and had also owned and operated The Cobbler shoe repair shop. More recently he was an employee at K-Mart and enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his sister Alice Gorby of Glasgow, nephews James Lee Gorby (Shannon) of Leitchfield and James Fowler (Deborah) of Florida and a niece Laura Jean McCoy (Danny) of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers Sylvester Gorby, Tommy Gorby and James Bennett.

Funeral services will be 2pm Wednesday at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 11am until time for the service. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
