October 1, 1982 – Recent births – Justin Bradley Coe, Tyler Harding Wells, Megan Brooke McGregor, Kimberly Marie Carrico, Jonathan David Harris.

October 3, 1982 – Chicago Tylenol Sales banned as the 7th poisoning victim dies.

The 1972 graduating class of Temple Hill High School held their ten year reunion Sept. 18 at the Barren River Lodge.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. Mack Gibson are celebrating their 50th anniversary this month.

October 5, 1982 – Mrs. Betty Carol Pace has been re elected to the office of secretary of the University Of Kentucky Board Of Trustees.

Dana Denton of Glasgow killed an 85 pound doe on the second day of the current deer season, October 2. He made the kill on a shot of approximately 30 yards.

October 6, 1982 – Jane Read, personnel employee of Kentucky Pants Co. was recently honored for her 35 years of service with the company in Glasgow.

October 7, 1982 – Groundbreaking ceremonies are held for the Temple Hill Volunteer Fire Dept.

October 8, 1982 – Winners in the Little Mr. and Miss FHA Contest held at Metcalfe County High School were Justin Lyon and Emiley Wyatt.

October 10, 1982 – Heidi Kjellmark is the 1982 Glasgow High School Homecoming Queen. Fire Safety Poster Contest winners from Hiseville School are Jennifer Spillman, Janie Clark and Mary Lee Locke; Jennifer Siebold, Jamie Coomer, Dana Sue Smith, Anthony Bushong, Jennifer Christie, Erin Siebold, Lee Ann Smith, and Michele Lock.

October 12, 1982 – Mary Grider, Junior at Eastern Ky. Univ and graduate of Barren County High School was a candidate for homecoming queen at Eastern Saturday. Glasgow B & PW Club have nominated their candidates for 1982 woman of the year – Golda Walbert, Mary Gatewood Culver, Lois Gray, and Mrs. L W Downing. New officers for the Glasgow Kiwanis Club are David Johnson, President, Everett Baker, VP, Ed Pugh, Treas., Dan Lamont, Secretary and Wayne Angstrom, president-elect.

October 15, 1982 – Jimmy Buford, a resident of Modern Manor, Glasgow, wins three first place trophies at the Ohio Valley Raceway in Louisville during the past three weeks while riding his 1976 Honda 550.

October 17, 1982 – Startel Systems will be holding their grand opening on October 22 and October 23 at their offices just off Happy Valley Road at 316 Green Acres. Don and Ron Wyatt are owners and Lori Houchens is the sales Representative.

October 19, 1982 – Four former Vocational School students in the Business and Office Department participate in a panel discussion at the school. The group answered questions about their job and what to expect in today’s business environment. Those participants included Mary Lou Miller, Beverly Pedigo, Dana Salley and Myra Groce.

October 21, 1982 – Earl G. Vance, 63, Glasgow businessman, dies. He was the owner and operator of Tractor and Farm Supply on W. Main Street.

October 24, 1982 – Brownie Girl Scout Troop 704 holds investiture ceremony. 25 girls were inducted into the troop.

October 26, 1982 – Mrs. Lois Howard Gray is named the Glasgow B & PW Woman of Achievement.

October 27, 1982 – Bill Stanick, manager of  Glasgow K Mart in Central Center, presented a 5 year service pin to Ralph Gentry. Also receiving the five year award were Margarett Martin, Joyce Overfelt, and Shirley Borders.

Girl Scout Troop 257 attended a workshop at Horse Cave Theatre recently. The girls were given a behind the scene look at theatre work including set design, make up and costuming.

October 28, 1982 – The Hiseville Cardinals will  play their Homecoming Game Friday, Oct. 29. They will play the Temple Hill Bulldogs.

The Print “Barren County Pride” goes on sale Friday night at the BCHS-Franklin game. The painting is by local artist Mark Simmons. Prints are $10 each.

October 29, 1982 – The HISEVILLE High School Class of 1967 holds their class reunion at Holiday Inn in Cave City.

October 31, 1982 – Glasgow Daily Times Halloween Party Winners are Brian Gibson, Kenyon Wallace and Joe Austin, Crystal Matthews, Mackay Dickerson, and Billy Frey, Jeremy Runyon, Whitney Rayles, and Karen Schroeder.
