Regional cross country meets were Saturday for area high schools.

From class 1A, Region 2:

The men’s race saw Green County winning the region. Green County was led by Derrick Troxell

Hancock’s Cody Roach won the race. Campbellsville’s Nathan Riggs and Micheal Rafferty finished second and third. State individual qualifiers include Cumberland County’s Corey Williams, Glasgow’s Zack Wheeler and Monroe’s County’s Joseph Quick. Green County’s will be scored as a team at the State meet.

The girl’s race also saw Green County winning the meet with Sidney Davis leading the way. Glasgow’s Marissa Moore finished second for the Lady Scotties qualifying for state meet. State individual qualifiers include Leah Smith of Cumberland County, Glasgow’s Ashley Brown, Metcalfe County’s Kelsie Hodges and Monroe County’s Reagan Turner.

From class 2A Region 2:

The men’s race saw Edmonson County take the title. The Wildcats, led by Kenny Stethen, had three runners finish in the top five. The race was won by Larue County’s Adam Sandige. Arron Osborne was fourth for Warren East. Team state qualifiers include Edmonson County, South Warren and Warren East. Individual qualifiers include Butler County’s Ethan Jenkins and Larue County’s Adam Sindage.

The woman’s race saw Elizabethtown winning the race with Hannah Godfrey leading the way with the victory. South Warren’s Caroline Haas was second for the Lady Spartan’s. Edmonson County’s Jessica and Jennifer smith were fourth and fifth. Team State qualifiers from the area include South Warren,  Warren East, Edmonson County and Butler County with Individual qualifiers including Larue County’s Kristina Durbin and Hart County’s Jossie Guggisberg and Shelby Turley .

In 3A region 2:

The men’s race saw Bowling Green High edging out Grayson County for the region title. Grayson County’s Bret Crawford won the race for the cougars. Bowling Green’s Kyle Johnson was second with Greenwood’s Nick Howell finishing behind him.  Team State meat qualifiers from the area include Bowling Green. Individual qualifiers include Mason Dunbar of Barren County, Greenwood’s Josh Amos, Keith Prive as well as Nick Howell.

The Girls race showcased Bowling Green lady purples winning another title. The Lady Purples swept the top five with Ally Davis of Barren County Finishing sixth. Davis helped Barren County secure the runner-up in team scores. Barren County and Bowling Green will also be joined by the teams of Central Hardin and North Hardin to run at the State meet. Individual qualifiers from the area include Greenwood’s Ashley Spiller and Sarah Suggs and Warren Central’s Taylor Jones.

The State meet will be this Saturday,  Starting With Women’s 1A State Meet at 9:30 AM Eastern Standard Time
