The Glasgow Fire Department responded to two fires on Thursday night. The first happened at 6:01pm for a fire in the roof of J. L. French at 20 Prestwick Drive. Upon arrival firefighters found that work being done on some ceiling lights likely started a fire near the underside of the roof on some beams. The beams had a small amount of dust on them causing the fire. Firefighters with the help of plant personnel were able to extinguish the fire.  Plant personnel are calculating a damage estimate and will released it at a later time. No Injuries were reported on scene.

The second fire was reported to firefighters just two minutes after the arrival at J.L. French. One engine left the first scene and responded to a residence on Humble Ave. for a reported fire in an electrical outlet. Firefighters requested assistance from the East Barren fire Department to the Humble Ave fire. When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke in the structure and a blackened wall socket. Firefighters used an ax to open up the wall to contained  fire to the wall outlet. No injuries were reported and the damage was minor at the residence.
