Late last night Columbia State Police received a call from the Washington County Dispatch in reference to a possible shooting. At approximately 10:16 PM EDT Springfield Police Department’s 911 received a call in reference to a man threatening suicide at a residence on Brushgrove Road, 12 miles north of Springfield. As deputies were en route to the residence a second call was received at approximately 10:28 PM EDT; the caller advised that someone had been shot in the residence and that two others had left and made it to a neighbor’s home. Deputies, Troopers and members of the Kentucky State Police Special Response Team (S.R.T.) responded to the scene. At approximately 3:39 AM EDT this morning the SRT entered the residence and found one male and one female deceased and secured the residence. The victims have been identified as 52-year-old William Woodford and Woodford's mother-in-law, 58-year-old Phyllis Tarter, both of Washington County. William Woodford's wife, Debbie Woodford and his 17-year-old stepson fled the residence and were not injured. Autopsy's have been scheduled for later today at the State Medical Examiner's office.
