FISCAL COURT HEARS REQUEST FOR HELP WITH LIGHTS AT NEW BALL FIELDS PDF Print

Barren County Fiscal Court had it’s first meeting of the calendar year last night with a large number of guests attending to support the Barren County Sports League’s efforts to look for funding from the fiscal court for lights at the two new baseball and softball fields at Jackie Browning Park.  The lights will cost between $155,000 and $170,000.  The Barren County Sports League is a separate entity from the Barren County Recreation Board.  The Recreation Board oversees the facilities while the former oversees the league activities.  Both entities are looking for both private and public funding to cover the cost of lights that would be heavily used once the season starts in the spring.  The court decided to table the issue until the February 4th meeting of the fiscal court in order to come up with a total amount of private funding that will be obtained by that date.  Then, the court will decide to appropriate additional funds to the Recreation budget.  They will also have the option of a 10-year payment plan.  John Hall, president of the league addressed the court.
