After a lengthy discussion with several representatives of the Barren County Sports League and the Barren County Recreational Board on hand, the Fiscal Court voted to buy lights for the two new baseball fields at Jackie Browning Park.  Recreational Board Member Bud Tarry addressed the court, challenging the magistrates and Judge-Executive Davie Greer to fund the project as an investment in the youth of the county.

The project of putting lights on the field is estimated between $155,000 and $170,000 with payment plans of up to 10 years that would total around $220,000 at interest rates between 5.15% and 5.45%.  This money would be budgeted into the Parks and Recreation Department’s annual funding.  Magistrate Carl Dickerson told the court that while he supported funding the lights project at Jackie Browning Park, the money will have to be taken from somewhere else.
