According to the Associated Press  Kentucky State Police say six people are dead in two crashes that happened near the same location in central Kentucky on Interstate 65.

 

Police dispatcher Chuck Stewart said the crashes late Saturday morning were reported 16 minutes apart near the interstate's 83 mile-marker. The first crash occurred in the northbound lanes of I-65 at 11:13 a.m. and the second in the southbound lanes at 11:29 a.m.

 

Stewart said five people are confirmed dead in the first crash and one person is confirmed dead in the second crash.

 

He said troopers from the Elizabethtown post were at the scene investigating and he had no details on what might have caused the crashes.

 

The 83 mile-marker is south of Elizabethtown, between Glendale and Sonora.
