The Scottie boys have been very busy the last few days as they played matches

against Warren Central on Friday, Russellville & Logan County on Saturday, and

Metcalfe County Monday.  Warren Central swept the Scotties on Friday winning both

singles and doubles at all levels.  Logan County duplicated that on Saturday but the

Scotties did better against Russellville as Cody Jones won at court 1 singles in a

tight match by a score of 6-3, 6-3.  Adam Garrett won at court 3 8-2 and both

doubles courts were close but went to Russellville as the Scotties lost 3 courts to

2.  Monday's match against Metcalfe County went to the Hornets in a very close

match.  Cody Jones and Ashab Ahmed were edged out in tightly played matches by

Jackson Bell and Hayden Crain as Jones lost to Bell 6-8 and Ahmed lost to Crain 7-9.

In the doubles match playing each other, Bell and Crain again came out on top

winning over Jones and Ahmed on court 1 6-3, 6-4.  Sabid Mir and Adam Garrett came

back from being soundly defeated by Metcalfe's Kendall Compton and Tyler London in

singles to defeat the same pair in doubles 2-6, 6-4, 1-0, winning the 3rd set

tiebreak by a score of 10-0.

In other matches, Brian Sadler and Nick Stone picked up singles wins for the Scotties.

Coach Downing stated, "Warren Central and Logan Co. were just stronger than we were

this past weekend but we were very competitive against both Russellville and

Metcalfe County.  The match against Metcalfe was really fun to watch and could have

gone either way.  It was great to see players from both teams enjoying playing

tennis and showing some outstanding shots as they did.  More importantly to me was

that both teams demonstrated great sportsmanship and had fun playing.  We are

continuing to show improvement and while it is not showing up in the win column, it

is definitely showing up in the improvement column and we continue to learn how to

play together and as a team.  I really like my team and we have a great bunch of

boys and supportive parents and we will get better each week."  The Scotties have

scheduled home matches against Cumberland County on Tuesday and Franklin-Simpson on

Thursday and travel to Metcalfe Co. on Friday.
