Shirley Mae Sturgeon, 86 of Munfordville passed away at 3:35am Sunday, April 21 at the Caverna Memorial Hospital.  The Jefferson County native was the daughter of the late Omar Hatfield & Ida Hawkins Hatfield and the wife of the late Arvil Sturgeon.

Mrs. Sturgeon was a homemaker and a member of the Munfordville Baptist Church.


She is survived by:

Michael Sturgeon of Ft. Myers, FL

Alvin Sturgeon of LaGrange

3 Daughters-Mary Huddleston of Munfordville

Ruth Trobaugh of Louisville

Jeanette Fulton of Ft. Myers, FL

2 Brothers-Thomas Hatfield of Boston, KY

Omar Hatfield, Jr. of Munfordville

2 Sisters-Loretta Burba of Cub Run

Annetta Butler of Cub Run

13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Evans, two brothers Roy and George Hatfield and one sister Lucille Hatfield


Funeral services for Shirley Mae Sturgeon will be 11am Tuesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Bro. David Matthew Sturgeon officiating.  Burial will be in the Cub Run Cemetery.    Visitation will be Monday from 3-9pm and will continue after 8am Tuesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home.  The family request that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
