On the docket in U.S. District Court in Bowling Green, the trial of the Barren County Sheriff, one of his deputies and one drug task force employee is scheduled to start at 9 am this morning.  It’s been a little over 3 years since the incident that prompted to allegations against the three laws enforcement officers.

Sheriff Chris Eaton, Deputy Aaron Bennett and DTF employee Eric Guffey are accused of using excessive force during an arrest in 2010, then falsifying documents and lying to the FBI about it.  The incident involved a high speed chase, attempts to run officers off the road, and an active meth lab inside a van that struck an occupied house on Cherry Street.  Billy Ray Stinnett pled guilty in October of 2010 to a variety of charges related to the incident and was sentenced to 20 years in jail.
