COLLISION LEADS TO ARREST PDF Print

On Saturday May 11, 2013 at 6:21 A.M.,Kentucky State Police responded to I-65 North near the 74 mile marker in Hart County in reference to a single vehicle collision.  According to Trooper First Class Joel Huff Paul D. Sowards Jr. (30) of Bowling Green was traveling North when he lost control of his 2002 Dodge Ram and exited the right side of the roadway.  Mr. Sowards then traveled through a ditch line before striking a rock wall with his vehicle.  Mr. Sowards refused medical treatment on the scene.

While investigating the collision, Trooper Huff found that Mr. Sowards was under the influence of drugs at the time of the collision.  Mr. Sowards also had in his possession several different types of medication some of which were not in the original container.

Mr. Sowards was arrested and charged with Operating Motor Vehicle Under The Influence Of Alcohol/Drugs/ETC.08 1st Offense, Prescription Controlled Substance Not In Proper Container 1st Offense, No Registration Plates, and No Registration Receipt.  Mr. Sowards was lodged in the Hart County Jail.
