Barren County will receive more than $119 thousand in funding for health and human services programs. The money comes from United Way’s annual funding allocations to their partner organizations which include the Boys and Girls Club, Community Action and The Red Cross.

 

Each partner organization goes through a rigorous evaluation process to determine how much money they should get. United Way’s Director of Marketing and Communications Mandy Hicks says each partner must write a detailed grant:

Every penny of the allocated funds was donated through the United Way’s payroll deduction program. Participants sign up to have small amounts of money from their weekly paycheck put towards the The United Way and its partner organizations:

The United Way is holding a conference at the Chamber of commerce at 8 AM tomorrow to announce the exact dollar amount that will go towards Barren County. The amount given to each partner organization will also be announced.

 

Any company can start a payroll deduction program for the United Way by calling 270-843-3205 or by going on the united way website, www.liveunited.org.
