August 1, 1993 – Gov. Brereton Jones announced Friday that he has appointed Commonwealth Attorney Carroll M Redford, Jr. to replace the retiring Shelley Riherd as Circuit Judge.

August 2, 1993 – New officers for the Barren County Bar Association are Ron Hampton, President, John C Rogers, VP and Thomas Travis, Sec/Treas.

August 3, 1993 – Phil Patton is named Commonwealth Attorney nominee by the Barren County Democratic Committee.

August 5, 1993 – Charles S Turner is the new assistant principal at Glasgow High School.

August 6, 1993 – Sidewalk Days kicked off Friday on the Glasgow Public Square.

August 8, 1993 – The Avengers took first place in the Girls Kiwanis Softball team league. They are Brooke Caudel, Sarah Spillman, Rachel Perkins, Eli Johnson, Amber Riddle, Katie Beth Elmore, Ashley Pace, April Harrison, Lindsay Thurman, Shannon Rayles, Kristen Katchak, Megan McGregor and Coaches Tim and Patty Harrison.

August 13, 1993 – Temple Hill Class of 1973 held their 20 year reunion at Barren River Lodge.

August 15, 1993 – First Place winners in Kids Olympics are Austin Smith, Ryan Ganci, Rachel Poynter, Tony Gamel and Daniel Crenshaw.

August 16, 1993 – GHS Cheerleaders are Bethany Deckard, Bridget Houchens, Rana Thomas, Meridith Harris, Dana Hardin, DeSonda Stockton, Kasey Kingrey, Julie Wimpee, Ashlie Hood, Rebecca Heltsley and Chastity Hayes.

August 20, 1993 – Terry Harris is named new Barren County detective. The position was created at the weekly meeting of the Barren Fiscal Court.

August 22, 1993 – Finishing touches are being put on the new Glasgow City Hall.

August 23, 1993 – GMS opens for the first time in its new building.

August 25, 1993 – Nelson Metal to build plant in Glasgow. 225 will work in 100,000 sq. ft. IDEA Park plant. Wagner Brake is opening an automotive brake component manufacturing plant in Scottsville. 200 will be employed in the next 6-9 months.

August 26, 1993 – Rev. Virginia Tweedy is the first lady member of the Park City Lions Club. President Gary Allen welcomed her.

August 27, 1993 – Students at WKU Glasgow’s campus now has a new graveled parking lot at the rear of the Glasgow campus on Liberty Street.

August 28, 1993 – Barren County Trojans whip Scotties 21-7 in their season opener.

August 30, 1993 – Jamye Furlong was named Barren County Young Woman of the Year Saturday night. Lori Doolin was the alternate.
