Ruth Houchin Skaggs, 93, of Brownsville, KY, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born May 27, 1920,  the  daughter of the late  Calvin D.  Houchin, Sr. and the late Rosa Ellen Denham Houchin and the wife of the late Kenneth H. Skaggs.  She was a secretary at Wilkes Clinic, a homemaker and a member of Green River # 577  O.E.S. and  Pleasant Union United Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Skaggs Edwards and Sherry Lakofka (Don) both of Bowling Green, KY; two granddaughters, Sheri-gaye Stockdale of Brownsville, KY and Stephanie McCurdy (Chris ) of  Knoxville, TN; one grandson, Kenny Ray Gillespie of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  She was preceded  in death by one grandson, Scott Kelly Parsley; three brothers, Paul, Raymond and Calvin Houchin and one sister, Grace Skaggs.

Funeral services for Ruth Houchin Skaggs will be at 2PM Sunday, August 04, 2013 at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel with Burial in the Pleasant Union Church Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Patton officiating. Visitation will be from 4PM to 8PM Saturday, August 03, 2013 and after 11AM Sunday, August 04, 2013 at the funeral home
