Roland Richey 90 of Smiths Grove died peacefully Tuesday, August 20, 2013 with his family by his side at the Hospice House.   The Barren County native was a farmer and owner and operator of R and S Texaco Service Station in Smiths Grove, a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Smiths Grove Lions Club for 33 years and a WWII Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Geneva Beckham Richey; four daughters, Brenda Belcher and husband Gerald, Freida Watt and husband Tommy, Marida Carroll and husband Billy, Vickie McChesney and husband Johnny.  Eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also surviving.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Eula Blanche Lawrence Richey; a grandson, Timmy Lewis; three brothers, Robert Lee, Milton and Clinton Richey.

Funeral services for Roland Richey will be held at 1pm Saturday at Hardy and Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel with burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Visitation from 3 to 8pm Friday and from 10am to 1pm Saturday.
