The Glasgow Fire Department responded around ten Monday morning to the Glasgow landfill for a report of a fire.  While enroute firefighters called for assistance from the county fire departments for brush trucks. Upon arrival firefighters found that there was quite a bit of fire in a garbage heap. Firefighters applied water and foam to suppress the fire. Additional units was also requested from the county in the form of tanker trucks to help supply the needed water for suppression.

The cause of the fire was not determined seeing that no garbage had been dumped at that site for some time, but would not rule out spontaneous combustion. Firefighters were on the scene around 3 hours. There were no injuries reported. The Glasgow Fire Department would like to thank the City of Glasgow landfill employees, East Barren Fire Department, Haywood Fire Department, South Barren Fire department for their assistance at the scene.
