**UPDATE**At approximately 2:45pm on 10-31-2013, the Barren County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a residence on Patterson Road in reference to a tree that had fallen on a female. Connie S. Wilkerson 65 of 660 Patterson Road was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.

According to her husband, Mrs. Wilkerson had went out to check the cattle on their farm, and was going to stop and pick up a bucket of pecans from under a pecan tree located near the pasture. Her husband stated that after she did not return, he got worried and went to look for her. He located Mrs. Wilkerson pinned underneath the tree and called emergency personnel.

The Sheriff’s Office believes that a strong wind gust blew the tree over while Mrs. Wilkerson was picking up the pecans, and she was unable to get away from it. BCSO was assisted on scene by the South Barren Fire Department, Park City Fire Department, Barren County Coroner Mike Swift, Emergency Management Director Tony Richey, and Barren Metcalfe EMS.
