A press release submitted to WCLU yesterday contains a resolution passed by the Barren County Republican Committee at their November 12th meeting.  The Resolution takes a strong stance against negative ads and personal attacks that seem to becoming a part of the Senatorial Primary Race, where Matt Bevin is vying to win a place on the ballot by defeating incumbent Mitch McConnell in the Republican Primary.   The resolution specifically states: “Whereas, a Republican candidate has run numerous ads that attack a fellow Republican candidate as a person and not on the issues”  The resolution continues to cite several media outlets who have questioned the purpose and accuracy of those attack ads.

“Whereas, we hold an elected official accountable to be honest, forthright, and to stand by his voting record,

Be it resolved that, the Barren County Republican Party does hereby condemn all personal attacks directed at fellow Republicans, and

Be it further resolved that, the Barren County Republican Party does hereby condemn all dishonest attacks directed at fellow Republicans, and

Be it further resolved that, the Barren County Republican Party does hereby

affirm that it maintains its proper place as a neutral organization during the 2014 Republican primary season, and

Be it further resolved that, the Barren County Republican Party affirms that nothing in this resolution shall be construed as an endorsement of any particular Candidate for any Republican nomination.”

The document references the 1966 California Gubernatorial Campaign when Ronald Reagan created the so called 11th amendment .  “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.”  The press release says the Barren County Resolution will be shared with Republican Committees in every Kentucky County.
