Phil Patton, Circuit Judge for Barren and Metcalfe Counties, has filed for re-election.  Patton has been an attorney for 40 years.  He obtained his BA, MA and Law Degrees from the University of Kentucky.  After 20 years of general practice, Patton was elected Commonwealth’s Attorney in November 1993 and served until being becoming Judge in 2001.

 

While Commonwealth’s Attorney, Patton served on the Prosecutor’s Advisory Council and the Criminal Justice Council and was president of the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Association.  He was chosen three times as Kentucky’s Outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney.

 

Judge Patton serves as Chief Judge of the 43rd Judicial Circuit and is Vice Chief Judge for the Green River Region.  He was awarded the “Distinguished Jurist Award” from the UK College of Law.

 

Judge Patton has been active in the community.  He was twice chairman of the United Way campaign.  Both he and his wife, Margie, are active in the Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA).  He was a long time director of the Mary Wood Weldon Library.  Judge Patton is a graduate of Leadership Kentucky and has served on the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees.  The Pattons attend St. Andrews Episcopal Church and they are the parents of two daughters, Jessica and Emily, and have three grandchildren.

 

Judge Patton will be on the non-partisan judicial ballot in the November 2014 General Election.
