Mitchell Nance has announced he will run for re-election as Judge of the Forty-Third Judicial Circuit Court in Metcalfe and Barren counties.

Judge Nance took office in January of 2003 when Kentucky Supreme court Chief Justice Joseph El. Lambert assigned him from District Court to Family court after the adoption of the Family Court Constitutional Amendment in November of 2002.  Previously he had been elected Judge of the Forty-Third Judicial District Court, Second Division, in November 2000 and in November 2002.  He was elected to his current term as Family Court Judge in November 2006.

Announcing his candidacy for re-election, Judge Nance stated, “I remain committed to do my best to continue to earn the public’s respect for our Family Court and to make equal justice under law a reality for all our families.”

The son of the late Elton and Bessie Nance of Glasgow, Judge Nance is married to Ann Nance, a retired guidance counselor in the Barren County school district.  They are the parents of two sons, Campbell (whose wife is Andrea), and Alex, all of whom reside in Bowling Green.
