New Program has begun at Barren County Detention Center

Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) classes have started at the Barren County Detention Center.  Sgt. Gaye Jones recently completed instructor training in Memphis, TN and has started classes with inmates this week.  MRT is a systematic, step-by-step treatment strategy designed to enhance self-image and promote positive growth.  Research shows that MRT participants have lower levels of rearrests and re-incarcerations.  MRT is widely recognized as an “Evidence-based Practice” by numerous governmental agencies and treatment authorities.  Barren County Jailer Matt Mutter commented, “We are very excited to start this new program.  MRT is designed to help the inmates with the life skills they will need once they are released.  We have high hopes this will reduce the recidivism rate.  My staff and I will do everything we can to help them succeed in this program.”

Today is Yvonne Norris Bartley Day!  Retiring from Barren County Schools after 31 years.
