Tuesday evening, the Glasgow Police Department was called to Wal-Mart in Glasgow in reference to a reported shoplifter.  Officer Brandon Fletcher responded and upon arrival was notified by loss prevention employees, that 42 year old Douglas Justice of Horse Cave had been observed shoplifting.

Employees stated that Justice had selected a Reeces and a Gatorade and on his way out of the store flashed the clerk a receipt that was actually for Coleman fuel he had purchased.  Officer Fletcher searched Justice for weapons before arrest and located a small plastic bag of white tablets on his person, later identified by Poison Control as Alavert, which does contain pseudoephedrine.  Employees stated that Justice was also asking about Drano as well.

Justice was arrested and has been charged with THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING UNDER $500 and UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A METH PRECURSOR.


Early Wednesday afternoon, the Glasgow Police Department was called out to the Barren County Detention Center for a report of contraband.  Sgt. Barton, with the GPD had arrested 47 year old Ricky Lyons of Glasgow for a charge of THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING.  After arriving at the Detention Center, Staff was searching his property and found a dollar bill folded up that contained an amount of marijuana.

Lyons now faces additional charges of:  PROMOTING CONTRABAND 1ST DEGREE and POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA.
