On Monday, The Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of an alleged theft.  Deputy Dean Crumbaugh pursued a Blue 2011 Chrysler and attempted to make a traffic stop but the subject, 35 year old Charles Damien Hurt of Summer Shade, did not stop.  He continued at a high rate of speed until ramming his vehicle, then fleeing on foot.  Deputy Crumbaugh apprehended Hurt on foot.  He was charged with Fleeing or Evading 1st Degree in a Motor Vehicle; Fleeing and Evading Police on Foot 1st Degree; Leaving the scene of an accident; Reckless Driving, two counts of Burglary 3rd Degree; 3 Counts of Thefy By Unlawful Taking; and receiving Stolen Property under $10,000.  The Sheriff’s Office also served several outstanding warrants including a Cumberland County for Flagrant Non-Support, Two Monroe County Indictment Warrants, and one Metcalfe County Warrant.  He was lodged in the Barren County Jail.
