GFD Extinguishes Two Vehicle Fires PDF Print

The Glasgow Fire Department responded to two vehicle fires on Friday at almost the same time. One of the vehicle fires was at 216 East Cherry st. and was responded to by engine 1, the fire was quickly knocked down but the vehicle was destroyed. The vehicle was a 1989 GMC and was owned by a Mr. Lapham. The owner stated that he was working on the vehicle when it caught fire.  Firefighters were on the scene around 20 minutes.


The second vehicle was at 118 Marmak Drive and was responded to by Engine 3 and Ladder 2 because the vehicle was reported as being close to the house it to was quickly knocked down but the vehicle was a total loss, and there was also a small amount of damage to the house. The vehicle was a 2004 Nissan and was owned by John Likens.  A video of the vehicle on fire showed that the fire started under the hood and progress to the rest of the vehicle. However,  the exact cause was not determined firefighters were on the scene around an hour.


Today is Gayle Berry Day!!!  Gayle is retiring July 31 from the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center.  A reception is being held today from 1-3.
