Local Youth Receive FRECC Honors PDF Print

Farmers RECC has announced the winners of the 2014 Frankfort and Washington Youth Tour.

This is the 54th annual “Government in Action” Youth Tour. Winners will travel to Frankfort, Kentucky to visit the state capitol in April and will travel to Washington, D.C. for the annual “Government in Action,” Youth Tour in June.

 

The winners are: Rebekah Edwards, daughter of Preston and Sonia Edwards of Edmonton; Robert Clay Thomas Groce, son of Brad and Beth Groce of Glasgow; and Stacie Elaine Tolliver, daughter of David and Julie Tolliver of Cave City.

 

Kentucky is one of the 45 states to send a youth delegation to the annual electric cooperative youth tour. Since 1964, the nation’s electric cooperatives have collectively organized trips for more than 40,000 high school juniors and seniors to visit U.S. congressional members, energy and grassroots government education sessions and go sightseeing in Washington, D.C.

 

Farmers RECC has also announced the recipients of the 2014 Farmers RECC Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarships were awarded based on the scholarship application, extracurricular activities and an essay concerning energy efficiency. The scholarships were awarded as follows:

 

Lane Marden Thompson, son of Tommy and Beth Thompson of Center; Kayce Deanna Russell, daughter of Mitchel and Debbie Russell of Horse Cave; Tyler Douglas Hensley, son of Eric and Debbie Hensley of Canmer; Justin Daniel Riffle, son of Daniel and Chasity Riffle of Horse Cave; Tori Dawn Buckley, daughter of David and Starla Buckley of Glasgow; and Emma Christine Whitlow, daughter of Robert and Cheryl Whitlow of Glasgow.

 

Farmers RECC also awarded one non-traditional student scholarship to Amy Harwood of Glasgow.

 

Farmers RECC was formed in 1938 and is owned by the members they serve. Farmers provides electric service to over 15,000 members of eight Kentucky counties. Today more than 900 electric cooperatives provide reliable and technologically advanced service to 40 million Americans while maintaining a consumer-focused approach to business.
