Gray Construction has another world-class project to complete, and not too far from where it got it’s start.  Champion Pet Foods, a Canadian-based company, will be building a new state-of-the-art pet food kitchen in Logan County at Auburn, KY.  Stephen Gray, with Gray Construction said that as soon as he heard about Champion’s interest in opening a state-of-the-art facility in Kentucky, he knew his company just had to build it for them because of how wonderful a company they are.

A groundbreaking event was held Wednesday night in Auburn where Governor Steve Beshear was in attendance.  This marriage between Kentucky Agribusiness and Canadian interest was a result of the governor’s ability to solidify partnerships.  Beshear explains.

Not only will this $85 Million investment create 147 new well-paying jobs.  It also has a spin-off effect in the fact that all of Champion Pet Foods’ ingredients will be purchased from Kentucky Farmers in the region.

WCLU was on hand to take in Wednesday’s event, and if a new facility, new jobs, and new relationships weren’t enough to celebrate, world renowned bluegrass artists “The Grascals” performed while everyone took in a three course meal consisting of 100% Kentucky Proud foods, spirits, and wines.

The facility will begin operation in January of 2016.
