The Glasgow Police Department is recruiting for the newly formed Volunteer Mounted Posse program. These volunteer, non-compensated positions are made up of people from all walks of life that are looking for a way to give back to their community by working with their local law enforcement agency.

To join the Mounted Posse program, a person must be at least 21 years old, a US citizen, have a valid Kentucky driver's license, be in good health and have a well behaved and good tempered horse. A person cannot have been convicted of any felonies or have any misdemeanor convictions in the last 12 months or record of improper personal conduct – which will be discovered during the background check – that may affect their suitability for assisting in law enforcement work.

Though varied by skill set and interest, all the Posse members have one goal — to support the Glasgow Police Department personnel. All Posse members will train for, participate and respond to missions such as: Search & Rescue, Crime Prevention, Civic Functions, Disaster Relief, Patrol, and Emergency Support to name a few.

Applicants must complete a written City application to start the process. Which can be picked up at Glasgow City Hall, 126 East Public Square, Glasgow, Kentucky 42141; or you can go to our City’s website at

Interested recruits will be briefed on the Posse program, what to expect throughout the hiring process, training and complete or review the written application.

For further information please contact Chief Guy Turcotte or PAO Julie Anne Williams at the Glasgow Police Department (270) 651-5151.
