Jerome D. Taylor, 78, of Gamaliel, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.

He was born December 15, 1935 in Glasgow, KY to the late Stanton Taylor and Gracie Mae Carter Taylor. He was a retired principal and assistant principal of Gamaliel School, assistant principal of TES, MCMS and MCHS, a member of Gamaliel Baptist Church, American Legion and a retired Army National Guard Senior Sgt. 1st BN 623RD FA

He is survived by his wife: Shirley Spivey Taylor of Gamaliel, two sons: Jerome D.Taylor II and wife Annette and Jeff Taylor and wife Kathy all of Tompkinsville two brothers: Joe Taylor of Bowling Green, John Taylor of Glasgow, one sister: Idru Vibbert of Louisville, four grandchildren: Jerome D. Taylor III (Trey), Morgan Nichole Taylor, Clara Grace Taylor and Lexi Rae Taylor all of Tompkinsville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: David Taylor, Charles Taylor and James C. Jernigan.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 19 at 3:00 PM at the Gamaliel Baptist Church in Gamaliel with burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at graveside by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 2:00 PM on Monday and after 7:30 AM on Tuesday at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel and after 12:00 PM on Tuesday at Gamaliel Baptist Church.

Memorials are suggested to the Gamaliel Baptist Church, Gamaliel Cemetery, Gamaliel VFD or J.D.R.F.
