Traffic Impact Report for August 25 through August 29

Bowling Green, Ky. (August 22)-- The expected traffic impacts for August 25 through August 29. All work is subject to change.


· The ramps at exit 58 (Horse Cave) will have shoulder closures that reduce the lane width down to 12 feet as crews construct the widening in these areas.

Allen County

· KY 252- Crews will continue resurfacing from mile point 0 to 5.

Barren County

· KY 70/KY 90- Construction crews will be installing rock, pavement, guardrail, curb and sidewalks between the CSX bridge and I-65.  Flaggers will be present.

· KY 90- (Between Adam McCreary Road and Ky. 839) – Earthwork operations will continue.  Expect an increase in construction traffic and intermittent flagging operations.  Traffic will be switched to a temporary traffic diversion between Golden Pond and Witty Rd.  Motorists should be aware that the speed limit has been reduced through the construction zone.

· Outer Loop- Lane closures remain in place for both directions on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway between mile marker 8 through mile marker 10.  There will be lane restrictions in the eastbound direction of the Louie B. Nunn Parkway.  Contractors will still have construction traffic entering and leaving the parkway, U.S. 68 and Ky. 1297 throughout the week.

· KY 90- Expect lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews work on the traffic signals at the following intersections: Glasgow Outer Loop, Walmart/ Max Wagner Dr., Reynolds Rd.

· KY 70- Contractors will begin an asphalt resurfacing project on Ky. 70 from the intersection of Ky. 90 to the Metcalfe County line. This work will include sidewalk and traffic signal repairs in Cave City.

Butler County

· US 231, MP 9-11- On Monday, the contractor will continue work as part of the U.S. 231 widening project.  Throughout the project there may be multiple lane closures with flaggers in place from 8 a.m. -5:00 p.m.  Both lanes of traffic have been switched onto a portion of the newly constructed roadway.  Motorists are encouraged to stay off of their phones and be aware of new traffic patterns.  During morning and afternoon rush hours the delay may be up to 10 minutes.  Motorists may also want to consider an alternate route.  The speed limit is 35 mph through this construction zone.

Logan County

· KY 79, MP 6-7- Both lanes of traffic are shifted onto a temporary diversion through a portion of the project.  Message boards and signs are in place to direct traffic.  Motorists are encouraged to use caution and slow down when travelling through this work zone.  The speed limit is 35 mph through this construction zone.

· US 68, MP 14-21- On Monday a contractor will continue work on a 7 mile resurfacing project.  This project stretches from U.S. 68/Ky. 100 intersection in Russellville to the intersection with Ky. 722 in Auburn. There will be a lane closure in each direction on U.S. 68.  Message boards and signs are in place to direct traffic.  Motorists should allow extra time for traveling and be aware that the speed limit through this work zone is 55 MPH.  This work is expected to be completed by August 29.

· US 68, MP 8-11 –A contractor will continue working on new traffic signal loops as part of a resurfacing project around a portion of the Russellville U.S. 68 bypass.  There may be a lane closure in each direction on U.S. 68.  Some night work may also be expected.  Motorists should use caution and slow down when travelling through this project.

Metcalfe County

· US 68/ Louie B Nunn Parkway- Grade work will continue for the next several months on the new interchange project.  Trucks and equipment will be entering and exiting the road in this area. The northern section of Harvey Hurt Road (across from Industrial Drive) will be closed to through traffic.  Local traffic will need to use the southern approach from U.S. 68 to access Harvey Hurt Road.  U.S. 68 will be switched to the new alignment and bridge beginning Monday.

· Industrial Dr. (KY 3524)- Industrial Drive is closed from U.S. 68 to Sumitomo as part of the new interchange construction.  Motorists will need to follow the detour along U.S. 68 turning onto Ky. 80 and then onto Industrial Dr. until further notice.

· Louie B. Nunn Parkway- There will be lane closures in both directions on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway at mile marker 29 through mile marker 31.  These will remain in place until the bridge construction in the median has been completed.

Simpson County

· US 31-W Rural section- Widening work will continue on the northbound lanes side from Kentucky Downs to I-65 and construction on the box culvert will continue near the drive-in.  Drivers should watch their speed and stay off their phones in the work zone.

Warren County

US 31-W North Resurfacing - Paving will continue on U.S. 31-W north from approximately the Transpark entrance north to the county line.  Lane closures will be in place between the hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.  Traffic will be down to one lane and flaggers will be present to control traffic.
