John Gordon Tyler Sr. of Edmonton, KY formerly of Darien & Stamford Ct., passed away on August 27, 2014.   He was born in Stamford on December 24, 1924, and graduated Darien High School,  Class of 1943.  He was an Army PVT 1st Class Veteran of WWII and Korean War.   He worked on the Burma Road as a mechanic.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mildred Louise Tyler, two sons Steve Arthur and Robert Allen Tyler Sr.

Gordon is survived by his sons John Tyler Jr. (Marjorie), George Tyler Sr. (Julia Mary), Jay Tyler (Susan), Roger Tyler (Lori), Tom Tyler (Kim).  Two daughters, Sue Greene (Steven) and Mickey L. Munrow (Mickey W.).  Twenty grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, a neice and a nephew.  With his wife they were the owner/operators of Tyler’s Gulf Service in Stamford.   After his retirement he enjoyed raising goats, horses and reading.  In later years he and his wife loved  watching and identifying the birds that came to their home.

Arrangements are entrusted to Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, Kentucky.

Memorial contributions can be made to T.J. Samson Hospice, Glasgow, Kentucky.   There will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
