April 1, 1990 – Arizona businessman James McBain has been chosen as Chief of 1990 Glasgow Barren County Highland Games.


Bailey and Grissom Realtors and Auctioneers celebrated their 35th anniversary in real estate business in Glasgow. David Bailey, Shelley Riherd and Tubby Grissom are the partners.

 
Area soldiers serving our country include Christopher Sims, David Shepard, Ty Jewell, Bryant Green, Rondal Williams, Jeff Morgan and Joe Zapata.


April 5, 1990 – Marshall Bailey of Bailey Gibson Buick Pontiac GMC has assumed the presidency of the Kentucky Automobile Dealers Association.


April 6, 1990 – New officers of the T. J. Samson Community Hospital Auxiliary are Irene Nielson, Pres., Shelby Jean Gour, VP, Fran Manning, Sec., and Vivian McGaghie, Treas.


April 10, 1990 – A local teacher at Barren County High School, Jimmy Lowe, is chosen to participate in a summer seminar devoted to Author Jack London’s work.


April 13, 1990 – Freshman pitcher Matt Alexander of David Lipscomb University has been named the District 24’s Baseball Pitcher of the Week.


April 15, 1990 – Hiseville honors hometown native, Ray Hampton Smith. Smith was a professional baseball player, signed with the Chicago Cubs, and later has been a skilled artist with works in oils, watercolors, and pen lines.


April 16, 1990 – South Green Elementary students present a musical called “The Inside Pitch”. Main characters include Angelia Pickett, Ellen Downing, Ellie Vance, Allison Stokes, Keith Wilcott, Michael Goodman, John Gardner and Dustin Clark.


April 17, 1990 – Regional 911 Concept is the topic of a community meeting held in Glasgow.


April 18, 1990 – Barren County High School Senior Pivot Scott Young signed Tuesday to play college basketball at Quincy College, Quincey, Illinois.


April 19, 1990 – Sheila W. Oliver, agent for Ashland Oil received an award for outstanding sales for Ashland during 1989.


Sweet Nuthings, a new ice cream shop, opens in Southgate Plaza. Karen London is the owner and Linda Gibson is the manager.


April 20, 1990 – Glasgow Kiwanis Expo ’90 opens at Kentucky Tobacco Warehouse.


Wednesday night on TV – NBC – Unsolved Mysteries, Academy of Country Music Awards. CBS – Sydney, Normal Life, Jake and the Fatman, Rescue 911. ABC – Growing Pains, Head of the Class, Doogie Howser, Marshall Chronicles and Equal Justice.


April 22, 1990 – Jeff Rowland and Tommy Bartley held observe Earth Day by planting a Japanese Cherry Tree in the Courthouse yard.


Amber Michelle Riddle and Brandon Tyler Puckett have been chosen as Little Mr. and Miss WalMart celebrating the opening of the new store. 
 
Chris Huffman, 6’7” forward for Metcalfe County has signed to play college basketball at Transylvania.


April 23, 1990 – Rick Pitino is the guest speaker for the 69th annual Barren County Glasgow Chamber of Commerce banquet.


April 26, 1990 – Kentucky Headhunters are named best new country group at the Country Music Awards in LA. Members were Doug Phelps, Ricky Phelps, Richard Young, Fred Young and Greg Martin.


April 29, 1990 – Kelly Ann Meacham and Katrina Buster received the DAR Good Citizens Award.
