March and April Classes/Programs

Basic American Sign Language – Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 15 - May 1, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Barren County Trojan Academy. Basic instruction in ASL focusing on forms and vocabulary enabling students to quickly establish rudimentary communication skills with members of the deaf community. Class is for age 18 and above.  Instructor: Danny McCain Cost: $40

Drawing –Thursdays, February 27 – April 10, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Glasgow Middle School.  This class emphasizes breaking through barriers that keep us from learning to draw well and is adapted for all skill levels. You will learn how not to “get trapped in the line”, how to draw what you really see rather than what you think you see and how to develop a 3-dimensional viewpoint from the very onset of a drawing.  Class is for age 12 and above. Instructor: Alida Akers Cost: $35

QuickBooks – Tuesdays, April 8 – May 13, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Barren County High School.  Learn how to: set up your company and customize it; set up and customize invoices; set up vendors and write checks; set up employees and write checks; print monthly, yearly or quarterly reports and customize them; and reconcile your  monthly bank statement. Participants must bring a laptop with Quick Books installed to class. Instructor: Debbie Russell Cost: $75

Learn Basic American Sign Language with Danny McCain. Class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 15 through May 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Barren County Trojan Academy. This class will include basic instruction in ASL focusing on forms and vocabulary enabling students to quickly establish rudimentary communication skills with members of the deaf community. Class is for persons age 18 and above.  Cost: $40

If you enjoy art, we have four classes from which to choose.  Acrylic Painting is taught by Patty Hughes on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and meets at First Presbyterian Church. The next session will begin on April 21 and continue through June 2.  The Tuesday session will begin on April 22 and continue through June 3. You will expand your world of acrylic painting. Venture outside your “box” and experience new excitement through your own paintbrush. Or start from the beginning and broaden your range of color and beauty. Class is for persons age 13 and above.  Cost: $35

Lorie Short teaches acrylic painting on Tuesday mornings and Tuesday afternoons. The morning class meets from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Glasgow Baptist Church and the afternoon class will meet from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at a Glasgow location.  Both classes will meet April 15 through May 20. These classes are for beginner thru advanced students. Instruction to include basic painting skills, setting up paint palette, composition, lighting, and exploring a variety of painting techniques. Each person will work at their own pace and skill level.  Note:  the morning class will include figure study with a live model for three weeks. Class is for age 13 and above.  Cost: $40

Adventure Saturday at Hidden River Cave- Saturdays, May 10 and 17. The fun starts at 9:00 a.m. Two hour wild caving adventure tour, gem stone mining (1 gem bag), and zip line. Ages 8 and above, accompanied by an adult. Closed toe shoes required, long pants, gloves, boots, and a change of clothes. Expect to get down and muddy! Caving helmets and lights provided. Cost per person: $40.00
