ARTS & PHOTOGRAPHY

 

Drawing –Thursdays, September 11 – October 23, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m to be held at the Glasgow Middle School.  This class emphasizes breaking through barriers that keep us from learning to draw well and is adapted for all skill levels. You will learn how not to “get trapped in the line”, how to draw what you really see rather than what you think you see and how to develop a 3-dimensional viewpoint from the very onset of a drawing.  Class is for age 12 and above. Painting – Just for Kids – Advanced - Thursdays, October 16 – November 20, 5:00- 7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Students must have completed Intermediate before enrolling in this class. Instructor: Patty Hughes Cost: $40

Painting -Just for Kids – Intermediate – Thursdays, September 11 –October 2, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.  This class allows the child to create a painting using his/her own topic choice at the appropriate skill level.  They will execute previous techniques and learn new ones. Class is for ages 6 -12. Students must have completed Level 1 before enrolling in this class. Instructor: Patty Hughes Cost: $30

COMPUTERS AND TECHNOLOGY

Beginning Excel – Mondays and Thursdays, October 20, 23, 27, 30, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Barren County High School.  In this class you will learn how to use basic Excel formulas, basic menu functions, and learn basic Excel terms and definitions.  You will also learn to create Excel spreadsheets, save and name the worksheets, and format data within the spreadsheets. Instructor: Deborah Russell Cost: $30

Intermediate Excel – Mondays and Thursdays, November 10, 13, 17, 20, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Barren County High School.

MicroSoft Word – Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 14, 16, 21, and 23, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Location to be announced. Instructor: Tina Wilson Cost: $30

FINANCE

Paying for College 101 – Thursday, September 18, 6:00 p.m. at Western Kentucky University, Glasgow Campus. This workshop is designed to help high school students and/or their parents understand the nuts and bolts of the financial aid application process.  Participants will walk through a detailed case study of how a college financial aid package is put together and learn the methods used to award aid. LANGUAGE

Beginning American Sign Language – Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 9- October 2 at Barren County High School from 5:30 to 7pm.   Basic instruction in ASL focusing on forms and vocabulary enabling students to quickly establish rudimentary communication skills with members of the deaf community. Class is for age 18 and above.  Instructor: Danny McCain Cost: $40

SAFETY

Drivers Education – Thursdays, August 21 – November 6 from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Barren County High School.  Class includes 30 hours of class time and 6 hours of individual drive time. The class will include: some lecture, various speakers, discussion, and other activities.  Most insurance companies will give a discount for completing this course. Instructor: Glenn Flanders Cost: $175.
