Cortis Smith, 81, of Burkesville, KY, passed away Friday, December 3, 2010, at Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Kentucky after an illness. He was born in Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY, on February 23, 1929. He was a son of the late Louisa (Pelston) and Cordell Smith. He was a lineman at Chrysler Corporation in Indianapolis, IN for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Burkesville Baptist Church and was an army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Helen (Crawley) Smith of Burkesville, KY;  Two sons: Kenny Smith and his wife Lori, of South Padre, Texas and Tony Smith and his wife Deanna, of Fisher, Indiana; 2 Daughters: Sandra Stillman and her husband William, of Indianapolis, IN; and Sherry Potter and her husband Daniel, of Schickshiny, PA; 1 Sister: Nadine Stotts, of Louisville, KY; 1 Half Sister: Rita Willis, of Burkesville, KY; Ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, special Friends: Clifton Hadley of Columbia, KY and Randy Gosser of Indianapolis, IN, and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Cortis Smith will be at 11am Monday at the Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home with burial in the Smith-Feuston Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be after 5:30pm Sunday at the funeral home.
