April 1, 1971 – Joe Dean, Vincent Nadile and Harrison Satterly were three workers of the Electric Plant Board who have completed the task of moving utility lines for the new East-West toll road.

April 2, 1971 – Glasgow Junior High and High School Art Club members have their art displayed at the Central Center Shopping Center. The art of tie dye was a part of the exhibit.

April 6, 1971 – The Pontiac franchise has been purchased by Ed Peterson of Peterson’s Buick from James Pedigo.

April 7, 1971 – Heated discussion is held at Barren County School board meeting regarding Consolidation for the four county schools.

April 8, 1971 – John Henry Cash accidentally drove his ’66 Olds into the front of the Dutch Mill Village restaurant startling the proprietor, Mrs. Carroll Ream and cook, Jim Marcum.

April 9, 1971 – Johnny Oldham is named WKU Athletic Director replacing retiring Ted Hornback.

April 12, 1971 – Area Servicemen – Howard B. Davis, Gary L Furkin, Jerry W Noe, Ronald D. Cassady, Terry S. Spears, Gerald W. Roark and Albert G. Higgs.

April 13, 1971 – H. D. Jasper is the new manager of J J Newberrys.

Edward Hatchett, Jr. has been elected as President of the Student Council at Centre College.

April 15, 1971 – DAR sponsored and prize winning American History essay winners are Rhonda Riherd, 3rd, Sherry Rush, 2nd, and Henry Royse, 1st.

April 16, 1971 – Excavation work has begun on the new swimming pool at the Glasgow Golf and Country Club.

April 20, 1971 – Miss Emily Alice Russell is named Miss Peabody, 1971 at the George Peabody College for Teachers.

April 23, 1971 – Former Glasgow High School Coach Jim Richards is named WKU Head Basketball Coach.

April 27, 1971 – The State Board of Education today approved construction of a new location for a training center in Barren County. It will be built on a site owned by the Barren County Board of Education.

April 29, 1971 – Jerri Lynn Staples, GHS, Louise Bagby, PCHS, Mary Bunch, HHS, Connie Devasher, ATHS and Brenda Nell Mizell, THHS were honored as outstanding FHA members by the Younger B & PW Club.

PTA officers at Red Cross Elementary School are Sandra Bailey, President, Marjorie Houchens, VP, Stephanie Houchens, Sec. and Scharlene Edmunds, Treas.

April 30, 1971 – First Presbyterian Church hosts a Hobo Party for the local graduating seniors.
