May 1, 1991 – Construction is proceeding at the Narrow Boat Ramp for opening of the new marina in time for the Memorial Day Holiday.

May 2, 1991 – The Temple Annual staff and sponsors have dedicated the 1991 Accomplishment to Mrs. Mary Birge, who has dedicated over 20 years to the development and well being of first grade students.

May 3, 1991 – Betty Bailey retires from the Kentucky Department of Probation and Parole.

May 5, 1991 – Eastern Elementary School’s 3rd graders recently performed the play “Little Orphan Annie” with Toni Davidson as Annie, Jamie Wright as Sandy the dog and Joey Bunch as Daddy Warbucks.

May 6, 1991 – Members of the 623rd National Guard start arriving home after serving in Desert Storm.

May 9, 1991 – Bud’s Warehouse Outlet announces it will open in the former WalMart building in Glasgow Square Shopping Center.

May 9, 1991 – Matt Bowles sets Glasgow High School’s record with 30 wins making him the winningest pitcher in Glasgow history.

May 12, 1991 – The final section of Sun Valley Manor subdivision is completed. The subdivision has 69 lots with 45 occupied by houses.


May 13, 1991 – Karen Michelle Davis, daughter of Jackie and Theodosia Davis, will be receiving her juris doctorate degree at the Salmon P Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University this month.

May 14, 1991 – Officers of Glasgow Newcomer Club are Teresa Cason, President, Arlene Lapham, VP, Eleanor Mason, Sec., Lynn Vick, Treas, and Karen Tudor, Parliamentarian.

May 17, 1991 – Students at E. B. Terry Elementary School participated in Glasgow Highland Games by having a parade around the school parking lot and their own model of Barrie the Loch Ness Monster led the way.

May 21, 1991 – Barn Lot Theatre produces “Steel Magnolias” with Marilyn Gulley as Truvy Jones and Kim McMurtrey as Shelby.

May 22, 1991 – Recent births in the area include Brittany Rose Pinnegan, Megan Camille Berry, and James Colton Phelps.

May 23, 1991 – Sheva Lowe, a mom at Calvary Baptist Church received the Christian Mother of the Year Award at the Mother’s Banquet.

May 26, 1991 – Local students receiving awards at WKU’s Awards Day Ceremony were Elizabeth Gillespie, Carrie Thornton, Angela Meredith Pike and Christopher Lynn Logsdon.

May 29, 1991 – Amy Leigh Wood, BCHS and Allen Bryant Jones, GHS, win the Glasgow Rotary Club Scholarships for 1991.

May 31, 1991 – Jeff Foster is appointed Happy Valley Elementary School Principal, succeeding Zeb Ricketts who is retiring.
